C & A Scientific Premiere SMP-13L Binocular Stereo Microscope, 10x Eyepieces, 10x/30x Magnification, 1x/3x Objectives, Upper/Lower LED Illumination

The C & A Scientific Premiere SMP-13L binocular stereo microscope has 10x widefield eyepieces, a fixed 45-degree angle viewing inclination, 1x and 3x objectives with 10x and 30x total optical magnification, upper and lower LED lighting, a fixed stage with dual focusing knobs on rack-and-pinion mount, a frosted 95mm glass plate with clips for holding samples, and a reversible (black/white) stage plate. The binocular viewing head has a pair of eyepieces, fixed inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, eye shields to block ambient light, and rotation capability to provide a more comprehensive view and enable sharing. The objectives are mounted on a turret to ease magnification changes. The objectives provide low magnification and a longer focal length for inspecting large-scale specimens, or specimens that require hands-on manipulation or repair, including rocks, minerals, watches, or circuit boards. The microscope has upper (episcopic) illumination that reflects light off the specimen for enhanced visibility of opaque specimens, and lower (diascopic) illumination that transmits light up through the specimen for enhanced visibility of translucent and transparent objects. The LED light source provides bright, cool light for working with temperature-sensitive or live specimens. There is a three-way switch for light sources. The frosted glass stage plate allows light to pass through from below. The reversible black and white stage plate is used with top-mounted (episcopic) lighting to provide contrast with light- and dark-colored specimens. The fixed stage has stage clips to secure the slide or specimen in place while viewing. Dual knobs on a rack-and-pinion mount provide precise focus. A stereo microscope, sometimes called an inspection or dissection microscope, has a longer working distance that enables users to manipulate the object being inspected, and is used in semiconductor and electronics industries or by mineralogists, dentists, and students when the user needs to handle or perform work under magnification, including circuit boards, rocks and gems, and dental appliances.

The microscope stand is constructed of metal for durability. The microscope is approximately 12 x 4-1/2 x 7-1/2 inches (H x W x D, where H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; and D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back). It comes with a vinyl dust cover.

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

  • Plain stage with clips to secure specimen, coaxial coarse and fine focus on rack-and-pinion mechanism to provide precise focus, and tension control to prevent stage drift

The AmScope M500B-LED cordless monocular compound microscope has interchangeable 10x widefield and 20x widefield eyepieces, a forward-facing nosepiece with four DIN achromatic objectives, LED illumination, coaxial separate coarse and fine focus, a 1.25 NA Abbe condenser, and a plain stage. The monocular viewing head has a fixed 45-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation capability to enable sharing. An anti-mold head preserves optics in high-humidity areas. The forward-facing revolving nosepiece has 4x, 10x, 40xS, and 100xS (oil) DIN achromatic objectives that provide color correction of magnified images. The 40xS and 100x S objectives are spring loaded to prevent damage to the slide or objective when focusing. The 100xS oil-immersion objective uses oil between the specimen and the objective lens to provide increased resolution over a standard objective. The fully-coated optical system provides sharp, high-resolution images. A compound microscope is used for inspection and dissection of specimens when two-dimensional images are desired.

The microscope has lower (diascopic) Brightfield illumination that transmits light up through the specimen for enhanced visibility of translucent and transparent objects. Brightfield (BF) illumination allows the specimen to absorb light, resulting in a dark image on a light background. LED illumination provides bright, cool light for working with temperature-sensitive or live specimens, and a rheostat controls the amount of light emanating from the lamp. The 1.25 NA Abbe condenser can be adjusted to control the distance of the light from the stage and has an iris diaphragm to optimize the amount of light illuminating the specimen. The condenser is controlled using a spiral mechanism. The plain stage has clips to secure the specimen in place, and is 4-3/8 x 4-3/4 inches (110 x 120mm) (W x D; where W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back). Separate coaxial coarse and fine focus eases focusing for left- and right-handed viewers, and a rack-and-pinion mechanism provides precise and secure focusing. Focus tension control prevents stage drift. All the mechanical parts of the microscope are constructed of metal to provide durability and resistance to wear. The metal frame has a stain-resistant enamel finish for durability and to ease cleaning. The microscope can be powered by a 110V wall outlet or by three AA rechargeable batteries (included). Batteries can be recharged using the included power cord/recharger.

  • Double-layer mechanical stage, with 1.0mm stage divisions, locks slide into place and provides precise slide manipulation along the X- and Y-axis to allow coordinates to be recorded, enabling the viewer to return to a specific location on the slide

The AmScope T340B-LED compound trinocular microscope has interchangeable pairs of 10x widefield and 20x widefield eyepieces, a reverse-mounted nosepiece with four DIN achromatic objectives, Brightfield (BF) LED illumination, and a double-layer mechanical stage. The vertical trinocular port can be used as a C-Mount or 23mm photo port (camera sold separately). The Siedentopf binocular head has 48 to 75mm inter-pupillary adjustment, fixed 30-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation capability to provide a more comprehensive view and enable sharing. Bilateral dioptric adjustment accommodates individual eye-strength differences. The reverse-mounted nosepiece has 4x, 10x, 40xS (spring), and 100xS (spring, oil) DIN achromatic objectives that combine with the eyepieces to provide color correction of magnified images. The 40xS objective is spring loaded to prevent slide damage when focusing. The 100xS spring-loaded oil objective provides increased resolution over a standard objective. A reverse-mounted nosepiece keeps objectives out of the way to prevent damage and contamination, and to enable more secure slide handling. A compound microscope is used for inspection and dissection of specimens when two-dimensional images are desired.

The microscope has Brightfield (BF) illumination that allows the specimen to absorb light, resulting in a dark image on a light background. LED illumination provides bright, cool light for working with temperature-sensitive or live specimens. The 1.25 NA Abbe condenser can be adjusted to control the distance of the light from the stage and has an iris diaphragm to optimize the amount of light illuminating the specimen. The double-layer mechanical stage, with 1mm stage divisions, locks the slide into place and provides precise slide manipulation along the X- and Y-axis to allow coordinates to be recorded, enabling the viewer to return to a specific location on the slide. Graduated coaxial focus control allows measurements to be taken. The enamel-coated cast-steel body is durable and resistant to stains and corrosion.

United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. The company, founded in 1996, is headquartered in Irvine, CA.
