Ken-A-Vision TU-19041C Cordless Comprehensive Scope 2 Compound Microscope with Trinocular Head and Mechanical Stage; 10x Eyepiece; 4x, 10x, 40xS, 100xS Obj. Review

Ken-A-Vision TU-19041C Cordless Comprehensive Scope 2 Compound Microscope with Trinocular Head and Mechanical Stage; 10x Eyepiece; 4x, 10x, 40xS, 100xS Obj.

The Ken-A-Vision T-19041C Comprehensive Scope 2 cordless, trinocular compound microscope with a mechanical stage has LED lighting with dimmer control (rheostat) and on/off switch, a 10x widefield eyepiece with reverse-mounted 4x, 10x, 40xS, and 100xS DIN achromatic lens objectives with humidity and climate control protection, and is designed for biological use and educational applications. The trinocular head has a fixed 30-degree incline and 360 degree rotation for comfortable viewing and a total magnification up to 1000x for one or two viewers. The Seidentopf binocular head has variable width eyepieces. The monocular objective has individual focus + or – 0.20x for varied eye strength between viewers, or can accept a camera connection (not included). Separate coaxial knobs for coarse and fine focus provide sharp focus. The mechanical stage has clips to hold the slide in place, a stop to prevent slide damage, and separate knobs for X- and Y-axis adjustment. The built-in bright and cool white LED light has a dimmer control (rheostat) with a separate on/off switch for a range of lighting options. The single-cast aluminum body has a built-in, retractable, carrying handle for strength and durability. A built-in rechargeable NiMH battery (included) enables the microscope to be used away from power sources. The microscope includes an allen wrench, cover, power supply, and instructions.

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

Ken-A-Vision Manufacturing, founded in 1957 and headquartered in Kansas City, MO, manufactures educational products such as microscopes, cameras, and software.
