The AmScope SM-3TZ-54S-5M digital professional stereo zoom microscope has a pair of 10x super-widefield high-eyepoint eyepieces, a 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective, and a single-arm boom stand. The microscope has an overall magnification range of 3.5x-90x. The 5MP camera has a CMOS color sensor, a reduction lens, image capture and editing software, and USB 2.0 output to capture or display still or video images on a computer or projector. The trinocular viewing head has an interpupillary range of 55 to 75mm, a 45-degree inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation to enable sharing. The vertical trinocular port can be used as a C-Mount or 23mm photo port. The WH10x20mm super-widefield high-eyepoint eyepieces combine with the 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective to provide continuous zoom magnification and a longer working distance for inspecting large-scale specimens that require handling or repair. The microscope comes with 0.5x and 2.0x Barlow lenses that can be added to the objective to increase the magnification range. A Barlow lens with a magnification of less than 1.0 reduces magnification and increases the working distance, while a Barlow lens with a magnification greater than 1.0 increases the magnification and reduces the working distance. High-eyepoint eyepieces ease viewing for users who wear glasses, and dioptric adjustment accommodates individual eye-strength differences. A digital stereo microscope, sometimes called an inspection or dissection microscope, has low magnification and a long working distance that enables users to manipulate the object being inspected, and is used where image capture, detailed records, or documentation is required.

The 5MP digital camera has a CMOS color sensor for displaying still microscopy images and streaming live videos to a computer or projector. The camera has 40x magnification and a 0.5x reduction lens that ensures that the display has a similar field of view as the microscope eyepiece. The camera can be mounted in a C-Mount or any 23mm eye tube. The camera includes image capture and editing software that provides still image and live video capture and editing capability, including measurement functions. The software supports JPG, TIF, GIF, PSD, WMF, and BMP file formats and is compatible with Windows 10/XP/Vista/7/8/10 and Mac OS X. Camera drivers are compatible withWindows 10/XP/Vista/7/8/10 and Mac OS X. The software includes Windows APIs for native C/C++, C#, DirectShow, Twain, and LabVIEW that enable custom application development. The camera has a USB 2.0 data port (cable included).

The removable 54-bulb LED ring light provides bright, cool light for working with temperature-sensitive or live specimens. The ring light provides shadow-free illumination, and a rheostat controls the amount of light emanating from the lamp. Power and adjustment controls are located on the light head. The light uses a 110V-240V variable power supply. The microscope has a 17″ pillar that has an 8″ vertical working distance. The 16″ single-arm boom has a 24″ overall length. Bilateral focus eases use for left- and right-handed users. The microscope head can be rotated on the X- and Y-axes. The solid cast-steel base is 1-3/4 x 9 x 9 inches (H x W x D, where H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back).

Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

The AmScope M500A-P-PB10 digital monocular compound microscope has interchangeable 10x and 16x widefield eyepieces, a forward-facing nosepiece with four DIN achromatic objectives, tungsten illumination, coaxial separate coarse and fine focus, a 1.25 NA Abbe condenser, and a plain stage. The 0.3MP camera has a CMOS color sensor, a reduction lens, image capture and editing software, and USB 2.0 output to capture or display still or video images on a computer or projector. The monocular viewing head has a fixed 45-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation capability to enable sharing. An anti-mold head preserves optics in high-humidity areas. The forward-facing revolving nosepiece has 4x, 10x, 40xS, and 100xS (oil) DIN achromatic objectives that provide color correction of magnified images. The 40xS and 100xS objectives are spring loaded to prevent damage to the slide or objective when focusing. The 100xS oil-immersion objective uses oil between the specimen and the objective lens to provide increased resolution over a standard objective. The fully-coated optical system provides sharp, high-resolution images. A digital compound microscope is used for inspection and dissection of specimens when two-dimensional images are desired, and where image capture, detailed records, or documentation is required.

The 0.3MP digital camera has a CMOS color sensor for displaying still microscopy images and streaming live videos to a computer or projector. The camera has 40x magnification and a 0.37x reduction lens that ensures that the display has a similar field of view as the microscope eyepiece. The camera can be mounted in a C-Mount or any 23mm eye tube. The camera includes image capture and editing software that provides still image and live video capture and editing capability, including measurement functions. The software supports JPG, TIF, GIF, PSD, WMF, and BMP file formats and is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8; Mac OS X; and Linux. Camera drivers are compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8; Mac OS X; and Linux. The software includes Windows APIs for native C/C++, C#, DirectShow, Twain, and LabVIEW that enable custom application development. The camera has a USB 2.0 data port (cable included).

The microscope has lower (diascopic) Brightfield illumination that transmits light up through the specimen for enhanced visibility of translucent and transparent objects. Brightfield (BF) illumination allows the specimen to absorb light, resulting in a dark image on a light background. Tungsten (incandescent) illumination provides bright light, and a rheostat controls the amount of light emanating from the lamp. The 1.25 NA Abbe condenser can be adjusted to control the distance of the light from the stage and has an iris diaphragm to optimize the amount of light illuminating the specimen. The condenser is controlled using a spiral mechanism. The plain stage has clips to secure the specimen in place, and is 4-3/8 x 4-3/4 inches (110 x 120mm) (W x D; where W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back). Separate coaxial coarse and fine focus eases focusing for left- and right-handed viewers, and a rack-and-pinion mechanism provides precise and secure focusing. Focus tension control prevents stage drift. All the mechanical parts of the microscope are constructed of metal to provide durability and resistance to wear. The metal frame has a stain-resistant enamel finish for durability and to ease cleaning. The microscope includes five blank and five prepared slides.

To achieve a stable high magnification view, without the need for a tripod, the 12×36 IS III feature Canon’s advanced Image Stabilization (IS) technology for performance on par with Canon’s EF series of lenses. Vari-Angle prisms are placed between the front lens and the main prism. When the binoculars’ gyro sensors detect vertical or horizontal movement, these prisms compensate and correct any movements or shakes for smoother panning, no matter the speed. A high performance microcomputer using advanced algorithms not only improves IS, it helps provide shorter startup times and more efficient energy consumption. This means a comfortable, stable field of view that can be easy to maintain, whether tracking deer in the woods, watching a football game from the stands or seeing the sights from the window of a tour bus.

High Magnification, Compact Size

12x36 IS III

Canon’s 12×36 IS III feature a refined optical system designed to provide a 12x close up view with incredible optics, offering performance that can compete with much larger binoculars. And with 12x magnification it’s easy to see details that could be missed with the naked eye: the pattern of an animal’s fur, the expression on the face of the goalie, the intricate beauty of butterfly wings and much more are brought closer with the 12×36 IS III.

The Perfect Combination of Size and Brightness

With an objective lens effective diameter of 36mm/1.42 in., the 12×36 IS III deliver an extremely bright view while remaining portable enough to carry all day. The minute the action starts, whether in a brightly lit arena, or outdoors at dusk, the 12×36 IS III’s bright lenses display an impressive level of detail.

Sharp and Efficient Binocular Design

12x36 IS III

Canon’s 12×36 IS III use a Porro II Prism design. Because both the front lens and the eyepiece use convex-shaped glass, the binoculars’ design necessitates a prism system between the front objective lens and the eyepiece to flip the otherwise inverted image that would appear. Porro type prisms are perfect for the 12×36 IS III’s compact design because they deliver clear, bright images at high magnification with excellent sharpness, and minimal light falloff.

Unblemished, Across the Frame

12x36 IS III

Canon’s 12×36 IS III deliver a sharp and flat image across the frame thanks to the addition of doublet field-flattener lenses in the eyepieces. Doublet lenses correct curvature of field, the image quality degradation typical at the edges of the image. Thanks to the doublet field-flattener, a sharp and even, wide field of view is displayed in the eyepieces.

Longer, More Efficient Operation

12x36 IS III

With enhanced power-saving electronics, the Image Stabilization (IS) system in Canon’s 12×36 IS III is markedly more energy efficient than in previous models. Using AA alkaline batteries, the 12×36 IS III’s IS system works for up to 9 hours. The 12×36 IS III are also compatible with nickel-metal hydride (NiMh) rechargeable batteries.

More Comfortable for Longer Periods of Use

In binoculars, the distance from the eyepoint where the image can be seen without obstruction is known as eye relief. In use, especially for extended periods of time, more eye relief can make for a more comfortable, sustainable experience. Canon’s 12×36 IS III have excellent, long eye relief, providing a generous field of view that makes the binoculars comfortable to look through, even when wearing glasses.

Discreet, for Excellent Performance in More Environments

The 12×36 IS III have a refined, anti-reflective external design. This is especially helpful for watching birds and wildlife, or any situation where remaining inconspicuous is a priority.

Thoughtful Construction

The 12×36 IS III, as with all other Canon lenses, use glass optical components that are made of lead-free glass.
